Job Description
Corus & IMA is seeking highly motivated individuals for a Localization Capacity Strengthening Director position for the USAID Global Health Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Follow-on Activity. This activity seeks to improve health and development outcomes through increased implementation of theory-informed, evidence-based, locally led social and behavior change programming and evidence generation across health and development areas.
The Localization Capacity Strengthening Director will be responsible with being a part of the project’s senior leadership team and will manage a team that is responsible for ensuring that the evidence generation, adaptation and translation activities that the project supports meet local needs and are led and conducted by local research and implementation partners and that the capacity to conduct health system-related nutrition research is strengthened in USAID’s nutrition priority countries.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the project is fully aligned with and contributing to the realization of USAID’s Local Capacity Strengthening Policy.
- Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of the project’s local capacity strengthening strategy in collaboration with senior management team and partners.
- Assist local organizations in determining their social and behavior change (SBC) capacity strengthening needs and designing, implementing, and monitoring capacity strengthening activities. Oversee the management of country-based teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partners and stakeholders at all levels in project countries regionally and globally.
- Manage a team with diverse technical attributes, including capacity strengthening, country team management.
- Facilitate regional and cross-country technical learning exchanges and events, both in-person and virtually, in collaboration with knowledge management team.
- Foster locally led co-design, development, implementation, and monitoring in collaboration with other partners.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in international studies, nutrition, public health, economics, social sciences, human resource development, or related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of USAID’s localization agenda and approaches, multi-sectoral nutrition and health system strengthening approaches and gender programming
- A deep commitment to embodying Corus’s principle of championing local partners as leaders in innovative SBC solutions.
- At least 8 years of experience designing, implementing, and monitoring capacity strengthening activities for local partners or government bodies in low- and middle-income countries.
- At least 8 years of experience managing the performance and professional development of staff members.
- At least 8 years of experience managing activities involving grants or subcontracts to partners in low- and middle-income countries.
- At least 5 years of experience managing diverse teams, including across geographies and diverse cultures. Managing capacity strengthening efforts for local partners, government bodies or other key stakeholders.
- Fluency in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to write and present in French is a plus.
