Job Description

GH-TAMS is seeking candidates for a Malaria Operational Plans (MOP) Copy Editors for a three-month assignment with USAID/ Washington. The consultancy will be remote/virtual work at approximately 50 days. Start date is approximately August 1, 2023.

Background:
Format, copy/edit, ensure 508 compliance for 31 Malaria Operational Plans and associated country profile and prepare them for web publication.
For each year of funding under the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), a Malaria Operational Plan (MOP) is prepared for each country for review by the PMI Interagency Technical Working Group (TWG) and ultimately for approval by the U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator. Past PMI MOPs can be found at www.pmi.gov.

Role and Responsibilities:
Format, copy edit, and ensure ADS Section 508 compliance for up to 31 MOPs and prepare them for web publication.
● Format, copy edit, and organize up to 31 MOPs including the MOP narrative document, country profile and accompanying tables for each.
● Prepare MOPs for web publication.

Qualifications:
Educational

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or other related field
  • Over three years’ experience in the field

Technical

  • Experience copy editing reports and documents for web publication, including knowledge of the USAID Style Guide for 2022; required
  • Experience using, editing, and formatting in Excel and Google Suite; required
  • A strong familiarity with grammar, spelling, and punctuation with a proven ability to write and edit digestible technical content
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills

GH-TAMS technical assistance supports over 65 Missions and 19 GH Offices and other Bureaus covering a broad range of technical areas and cross-cutting issues such as HIV/AIDS, family planning, MNCH, infectious disease, TB, health finance, reproductive health, organizational development, OVC, project design, facilitation, M&E and strategic planning.

Project assignments are located in Washington D.C. and worldwide in Africa, Asia and elsewhere. Assignments typically range from two weeks to six months in duration.
