Job Summary:

Job Title: Marketing Officer

Reports to: Senior Value Chain Lead and Market Coordinator

Job Location: Sahila Woreda

The Ethiopia Poverty Reduced Sustainably in an Environment of Resilient and Vibrant Economy (PReSERVE) Marketing Officer will support the overall market activities and provide day to day technical inputs in priority technical areas, ensuring the implementation of a market facilitation approach. The position will be based in Sahila Woreda, Wag Himra Zone in the Amhara region.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Support RTI staff, partners and grantees in the implementation of livelihood deepening activities within a large, complex resilience for food security activity (RFSA) activity.
  • Support both Financial and Value Chain (VC) specialists on the delivery of day to day PReSERVE activities
  • Infuse market facilitation approaches in livelihood depending activities and support other project teams to collaborate with, leverage and strengthen market-based interventions and approaches.
  • Contribute to the implementation of marketing strategies using a market facilitation approach
  • Organizing and attending marketing activities such as business-to-business (B2B) events, buyer/seller platforms as well as trade fairs.
  • Support the design, implementation and adaptation of livelihood deepening activities, ensuring timely project implementation and technical quality, effective monitoring, and coordination.
  • Contribute to grants management, monitoring and evaluation, learning, work plan development, communications and report writing.
  • Support PReSERVE M&E team on timely registration of beneficiaries and activities as per given work plan.
  • Support the CLA team on conducting and facilitating learning and reflection events at woreda and zonal levels.
  • Collaborate with staff and partners across all priority areas to ensure cross-fertilization of ideas and coordination of activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree and 3 years of experience or Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience in Marketing in programming areas: access to finance, crop value chains, or livestock value chains.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in agricultural development in Ethiopia.
  • Experience with Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P), market systems, or facilitation approach required.
  • Demonstrated success implementing private sector-led agricultural development programs, preferably including experience in thin markets such as Productive Safety Net Program (PSNP) target woredas. Good experience on collaborating with value chain actors and government officials working on value addition.
  • Demonstrated success integrating youth, women and/or other vulnerable groups.
  • In-depth knowledge of the agribusiness sector in Ethiopia.
  • Knowledge of agricultural policy environment in Ethiopia required; Experience collaborating with Government of Ethiopia (GOE) preferred.
  • Experience with USAID or other donor-funded projects preferred, preferably in the project woredas of Amhara.
  • Reputation for professional excellence (as evidenced by references and achievements).
  • Strong written communication and effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
  • Language Ability: Oral and written fluency in Amharic and English required.
