Job Description

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Material & Logistics Manager to work with us on a large high profile project in Redzikowo, Poland with responsibility for managing in country logistics for receipt, transfer and transportation of all imported equipment and materials and managing all aspects of onsite material management and handling during construction. In this role, the individual will report to the Amec Foster Wheeler E&I Construction Manager. The Job requires problem solving and coordination between stateside supply chain personnel, stateside shipping / logistics / expediting personnel, the construction management staff, subcontractors, subcontractor shipping and expediting staff and assisting Construction Managers with ensuring priority items are delivered to the work location as required to meet scheduled installation dates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with stateside shipping and logistics personnel, establish and implement procedures for all aspects of in country shipping and logistics for imported equipment and materials
  • Establish and Implement procedures for a site material management and delivery systems
  • Work in conjunction with the home office personnel to track all imported equipment and materials, consumables, etc.
  • Equipment, plant and material in country transportation from port of entry to job site, unloading, receipt, inventory, inspection and storage management
  • Overage / shortage / damage reporting
  • Management of on time deliveries to job sites including inventory updates and delivery records
  • Preservation and temporary maintenance requirements
  • Coordinate material deliveries with subcontractors and working with the subcontractors’ project shipper and expeditor
  • Work with project staff including schedulers to plan material and equipment deliveries to job site and work site
  • If required, manage and set up off site storage facilities
  • Work with stateside Expeditor to ensure materials meet agreed delivery dates
  • Establish secure warehousing and laydown areas, manage inventory supply and withdrawal
  • To establish and manage laydown areas to optimize management and issuance of materials during the project period
  • Liaise with the Quality Control Manager and Quality Control personnel to ensure all site procurement, laydown areas and material management is line with applicable processes and procedures

  • Audit subcontractor materials systems

Skills / Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience on large-scale, complex construction projects
  • Minimum of 3 years at a responsible senior level for logistics and material handling
  • In depth knowledge of procurement, shipping, logistics, expediting, warehousing laydown area set-up and material control and management
  • Excellent working knowledge of specifications to assure material and equipment are properly stored and maintained until installed at the work sites
  • Working appreciation of engineering standards
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of quality control requirements for material management
  • Ability to manage responsibilities to meet demanding schedule, quality and documentation requirements for material management and handling
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Must have Knowledge of Department of Defense standards
  • Strong oral / written communication skills and ability to work with non-English speaking individuals through an interpreter
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, etc.
  • Self-motivated and driven
