Job Description

The Philanthropic Development department is a part of PATH’s Global Engagement division. Development’s core purpose is to provide leadership, strategy and direction to create a sustainable and innovative fundraising model that will attract an ever-increasing level of private support from individuals, corporations, and foundations. PATH is currently seeking a mid-level giving officer to join our team in Seattle. Responsibilities include:

Portfolio Management – approximately 65%

  • Managing and implementing a robust mid-level donor program with a portfolio of approximately 350 – 400 donors and prospects with expected annual giving in the $1200 - $9999 range to enhance the pipeline of major donor prospects.
  • Developing, prioritizing, and implementing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for current and prospective individual, corporate, and family foundation donors that actively move donors through the giving cycle.
  • Working with Prospect Research Specialist to develop strategies for prospects and donors.
  • Appropriately identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding these donors.
  • Effectively and consistently reaching out to donors via phone, email and personal visits to advance their affinity, allegiance and support of PATH.
  • Consistently and appropriately recording all donor contacts in PATH’s donor database.

Workplace Giving & Visibility Program – approximately 15%

  • Creating, managing and implementing a proactive workplace giving program in which PATH receives both visibility and financial support from employees of targeted organizations.
  • Working with Corporate Engagement team and MGOs to identify opportunities within their portfolios.
  • Representing PATH at workplace giving events which includes tabling and public speaking.
  • Positioning PATH leadership as speakers at workplace giving fairs and events as appropriate.
  • Managing PATH’s brand visibility at workplace giving events by ensuring appropriate and compelling table displays and staff engagement.

Comprehensive Event Sponsorship Program – approximately 20%

  • Managing and implementing a comprehensive event sponsorship program in close collaboration with Strategic Communications, Major Gifts, Bay Area and Donor Services teams.
    • Working with these teams, build annual timelines, work plans, goals and strategies for sponsorship program.
    • Working with Strategic Communications to identify sponsor benefits.
  • Working with Relationship Managers to identify, solicit and steward PATH’s corporate sponsors.
    • Convening annual meeting to match sponsorship opportunities with donors and prospects.
  • Creating and implementing a structure to ensure accountability for benefit fulfillment.

Other Duties as Assigned – 5% – 10%

Required skills and experience:

Position requires an energetic, intuitive, professional, team player. Additional required skills include:

  • Bachelor’s (B.A. or B.S.) degree from an accredited four-year college or university (advanced degree is preferred).
  • Two to three years of demonstrated successful fundraising experience/campaign experience in a diversity of fundraising environments.
  • Interest, and preferably experience, in global health or international development and a dedication to promoting PATH’s mission and fundraising priorities.
  • Fearlessness commitment and demonstrated skill in calling donors, securing meetings, and soliciting gifts.
  • Absolute commitment to team building and support of fellow development team members.
  • Strong proficiency in both written and oral communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and social skills and ability to work within a diverse community.
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills, and demonstrated commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrating professionalism, perseverance, optimism and a positive attitude when working with donors and colleagues.
  • Competency and proficiency in the use of computers including knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, word processing, social media, and email.

Preferred skills and qualifications include:

  • Decisive and resourceful with the ability to flex with rapid change, as well as anticipate and act quickly on opportunities.
  • Ability to inspire trust in others based on demonstrated integrity and intellectual honesty.
  • High level of energy and the emotional intelligence, and sensitivity to working with a group of diverse personalities from different cultures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team/matrixed-based environment through the development of excellent relationships with remote colleagues, local team, and Reach Campaign volunteers.
