Job Description

PwC UK is looking for an energetic and intuitive monitoring and evaluation (M&E) specialist to join us as a Manager working in the international development sector. You would be joining a growing team within PwC’s Economics & Policy practice in Belfast focusing on a broad spectrum of M&E work in the international development sector, for governments, donors, and implementers of aid programmes.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Taking a lead role in the delivery of large-scale M&E projects, from conceptual design phases, to implementation and coordination of the work, to report writing and presentation of findings.
  • Management and coordination of project teams and junior resources
  • Playing a core role in building our M&E business in international development – including growing our client base, strengthening relationships with existing clients, identifying new opportunities, and proposal writing
  • Contribution to PwC’s thought leadership in this field, including blogs, brochures, conference presentations and short public reports
  • Contribute more widely to developing our Economics & Policy practice, including coaching and mentoring more junior members of the team

The role will be based in Belfast, but will require flexibility with travel to London during the working week as required. The role will also at times require international travel.

Requirements

Essential skills:

  • Previous experience with M&E work in international development – covering a spectrum of quantitative and qualitative techniques
  • Strong academic qualifications – to a minimum of degree level - in a relevant discipline such as international development, economics, statistics, social science, public health, etc.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a flair for presenting complex concepts in simple terms
  • Knowledge of the business development process in international development – including proposal writing
  • Strong commercial mindset and financial literacy
  • Strong team management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams to tight deadlines

Desirable skills:

  • Masters or PhD level qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g. Stata)
  • In-depth expertise in at least one of the following areas of international development: human development (including education, health and gender), economic / private sector development, governance and security and climate change
  • Fluency in a second language
  • Experience working for or consulting to major government donors such as the Department for International Development
  • Experience working for or with NGOs in the international development sector
  • Significant work experience in a developing country – with in-field M&E and primary data collection experience considered an asset
  • Experience with a range of innovative digital reporting techniques (dashboards, interactive PDFs, etc.)
