Duties and Responsibilities
These internship positions (2) are located in the Communications and External Relations (CER), Office of the Secretary-General at the United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in Geneva, Switzerland.
The CER team is responsible for producing a wide array of communication materials to promote the work of UNCTAD, including:
The United Nations Internship Programme is unpaid and full-time. Interns are expected to work five days per week (40 hours). For those undertaking in-person internships, a valid visa and medical insurance coverage in Switzerland for the duration of the internship is required. All costs related to travel, accommodation, medical insurance, and living expenses must be borne by the intern.
The position is based in Geneva and the intern will work under the supervision of a senior colleague. The intern will assist with various multimedia and communication-related tasks, contributing to UNCTAD’s mission to disseminate accurate and impactful content to the public.
These positions are in person, for an initial period of three months with the start date as soon as possible.

Qualifications/Special Skills
A University degree in the area of media, communications, graphic design and/or multimedia arts, journalism, marketing, public relations, international studies, photography or closely related field is required.
For this position the following skills are desirable:
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or PhD Programme, or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD Programme. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Languages
Fluency spoken and written in English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage.
