Background

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is excited to announce a new internship for young people with disabilities living in Kosovo. This opportunity is part of our commitment to protecting and promoting human rights. We believe in supporting a society where everyone’s rights are respected equally. The internship aims to increase our work with people with disabilities and build local capacity.

The Intern for Disability Inclusion will help develop the Mission’s approach to promoting inclusion for persons with disabilities, both within the Mission and across Kosovo. The intern will be housed in the Office of the Head of Mission (OHoM), giving the opportunity to engage with all Mission departments. The duration of the internship is 6 months.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Senior Coordination Officer in the OHoM, the Intern for Disability Inclusion will:

  • Conduct a desk review of best practices for disability inclusion, both locally and within the Mission, and create a repository of relevant documents and standards.
  • Advise on the conduct of a disability audit, including accessibility, in collaboration with the Head of Mission Office and Department of Administration Services.
  • Work with the Mission’s Learning and Development Team to evaluate how best to build staff capacity for disability inclusion, including organizing monthly lunch talks for staff.
  • Help integrate disability inclusion into Mission programming by supporting the Office of Central Coordination during various stages of project management.
  • With the Mission’s Programmatic Departments, assist in planning and conducting consultations with persons with disabilities and provide recommendations for incorporating these insights into Mission projects.
  • Contribute to talking points and project documents related to strategies and initiatives on disability rights in Kosovo.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Political Affairs and Communications to highlight the Mission’s support for disability rights on social media.
  • Provide administrative support to the Front Office and Office of Central Coordination, including attending meetings and taking minutes.

The internship will be guided by a programme of work agreed between the intern and the supervisor at the start of the assignment, outlining day-to-day responsibilities and specific learning objectives. As part of this plan, the intern will complete a final project a research paper, analytical report, activity or other tangible output that demonstrates the intern’s contribution. The intern will present the key findings and lessons learned to a Mission panel at the end of the internship, as part of the overall learning and evaluation process.

Who can apply?

  • You have a disability (visible or not);
  • You are 30 years old or younger;
  • You have completed at least two years at an accredited university or graduated from a university course no earlier than 2022, or have completed a first or advanced degree in a field relevant to the OSCE’s mandate no longer than two years before the date of the deadline of the vacancy notice;
  • You have some experience advocating for disability rights, volunteering or interning with NGO’s or other institutions;
  • You speak and write good or excellent English;
  • You can use Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook;
  • You work well with people from different countries and cultures.

Support Provided

  • We will work with you to understand and meet your needs related to your disability.
  • Instead of a salary, we might contribute towards the cost of living of national interns who are non-residents at the duty station. Such compensation shall be equivalent to 10% of the applicable Board and Living Allowance (11.8 EUR per day).
  • You will also get health insurance through the Cigna scheme.
  • You can participate in OSCE language classes (Albanian or Serbian) and other learning opportunities.
