Job Description

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Head of Programme Coordination and Innovation Unit, the incumbent will support programme coordination and donor liaison, including partnership management, project and programme development, and other ongoing activities in the IOM Nigeria Country Office as needed.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Support resource mobilization and fundraising efforts by providing programme coordination and direct support to partnership management, networking, donor engagement, and programme development and planning.
  • Assist the Head of Programmes and the Chief of Mission in identifying potential programme activities to expand the Country Office donor portfolio, including:
    • Conducting preliminary research on funding opportunities from government and non-government donors
    • Reviewing calls for proposals
    • Collecting and analyzing donor information
    • Drafting donor mappings, profiles, and guidance notes on donor priorities
  • Support effective working relationships with donors and project/programme partners, including government authorities, diplomatic missions, and other relevant agencies and working groups.
  • Contribute to research and analysis of potential funding opportunities, donor priorities, and emerging trends.
  • Draft visibility and resource mobilization materials in coordination with relevant CO units; organize donor briefings and visits.
  • Review programme resource requirements and document gaps, needs, and opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing regular progress reports on partners, donors, and the overall donor landscape.
  • Ensure alignment of project development and donor reporting with IOM global, regional, and country strategies, including coordination with UN partner agencies and government stakeholders.
  • Support Project Managers in drafting donor reports in coordination with relevant CO and RO units, ensuring compliance with IOM policies, standards, and internal procedures.
  • Support knowledge management by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of correspondences, project development, donor reporting files, and related resource mobilization information in IOM’s relevant software systems.
  • Actively participate in conferences, workshops, and meetings relevant to thematic areas of expertise.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Master’s degree in International Relations, International Development, Political or Social Sciences, Migration Studies, Law, or a related field with two years of relevant professional experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Work experience in donor relations and grant management, particularly with donors relevant to IOM’s priorities.
  • Experience in supporting results-based project development and reporting, technical writing, and editing, preferably in the international development or humanitarian sector.
  • Experience working in international organizations or multi-stakeholder environments is an advantage.

Skills

  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Basic knowledge of monitoring and evaluation concepts, approaches, and methodologies.
  • Proven experience in donor report writing in humanitarian and/or development settings.
  • Familiarity with Results-Based Management and other strategic planning approaches.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills; ability to establish working relationships with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, and NGOs.
  • Capacity to supervise and train support staff; ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultures and professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure; high sense of confidentiality, initiative, and sound judgment.
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results, and creative thinking.
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications, including databases and office software.
