Counterpart International, a D.C.-based international non-profit organization, is recruiting for a NGO Capacity Building/Organizational Development Specialist and Manager, who will be responsible for leading the Capacity Building/Organizational Development component of a multi-sectoral USAID-funded project to develop Afghanistan?s capacity to plan and manage its social and economic development. The NGO Manager and Specialist will manage support provided to Afghan NGOs in the following organizational development areas:
? Governance/Strategic Management ? Financial Sustainability ? External Relations/Communications ? Service Development, Management, and Quality Control ? Human/Material Resources ? Accounting, Grant, and Financial Management
Duration of the assignment is two years. Benefits will be generous.
Responsibilities:
The NGO Capacity Building/Organizational Development Specialist and Manager will: ? Facilitate the preparation of work plans, assessments, evaluations and project reports; ? Conduct regular organizational assessments of NGO partners and assist them with individualized capacity building action plans; ? Develop and/or adapt training modules building on Counterpart?s existing materials; ? Lead the selection of a cadre of Organizational Development trainers; ? Coordinate training activities and support; ? Identify Afghan training resources; ? Monitor and evaluate training activities; ? Liaise with other participating partners on issues of technical assistance coordination and planning.
Requirements:
Minimum of eight years of non-profit experience with a minimum of five years of experience supporting internationally funded civil society programs; Experience developing strategies to address long and short-term capacity building goals of NGOs; Experience working in complex environments; Experience working in Islamic cultures; Significant experience in managing USAID-funded projects; Good knowledge of USAID policies and regulations; Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks; Strong interpersonal skills; Strong writing skills; Fluent English language skills required; Dari or Pashto preferred; Master?s preferred.
