Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Senior Program Manager, the Program Coordinator for the Peace, Justice and Security (PJS) team will be required to support various tasks and assignments, including day-to-day project management duties, budget management, monitoring, evaluation, and learning, communication and outreach, proposal development, and other assigned tasks. Based in PADF’s Washington, DC headquarters office, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day administration of one or more projects that span across multiple thematic areas, including but not limited to citizen security, justice sector reform, and community development.

Essential duties and responsibilities

The Program Coordinator’s responsibilities include:

  • Support general program management efforts, including report writing, and budget tracking of program activities and outputs.
  • Assist with the review and analysis of documents and information received from partners and/or field teams.
  • Assist in the supervision of interns, temporary help and management of projects, and sub-projects.
  • Liaise with other program, finance and administrative teams within the organization and contribute to the organization’s overall interdepartmental effectiveness.
  • Manage internal PADF program administrative procedures; ensure compliance with PADF policies and procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring that all program documentation is current and complete.
  • Maintain program tracking documentation and databases.
  • Support projects as needed with correspondence, research, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Assist to actively track sub-partners’ performance, provide feedback, guidance and assistance as needed to ensure proper program implementation.
  • Support proposal development processes as needed.
  • Travel to projects in Latin America and the Caribbean as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in international relations, political science, public policy, economics, or related field required. Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) strongly preferred.
  • 3 -5 years’ experience in international development, program management, democracy, human rights, or related field (or at least 4 years without a master’s degree).
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required, other languages spoken in the region such as Portuguese and/or French are a plus.
  • Experience with grant coordination, financial tracking, or monitoring and evaluation required.
  • Experience managing relationships with international donors including the U.S. Government, bilateral donors, foundations, etc.
  • Exceptional writing skills to effectively prepare clear and concise reports, strategies, and/or proposals.
  • Experience in working with local communities, civil society partners, and governments officials is highly desired.
  • Proficient in standard computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
