SUMMARY
The Program Manager, AgFinance plays a central role in ensuring that Opportunity International a) spends institutional and private funds for agriculture finance programming according to project requirements, in a timely fashion, and in compliance with donor regulations, and b) meets and tracks core outcomes to demonstrate the impact of these funds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following:
Business Development
- Contribute business intelligence, best practices, and lessons learned from project implementation to inform business planning, bid/no bid, and project design discussions.
- Develop budgets for grant applications and proposals.
- Participate in development and review of performance indicators and targets to be included in proposals.
- Assist with drafting and reviewing other sections of AgFinance proposals for institutional funders, as needed.
- Vet projects and grants with all key stakeholders and ensure compliance with internal policies.
Grant Management
- Participates in relevant trainings and conferences to remain up to date on industry standards and trends and key donor regulations.
- Monitor implementation of AgFinance projects by program teams and partner organizations, including conducting monitoring trips to the field.
- Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to vet, monitor and report on AgFinance projects.
- Track restricted fund obligations, grant outcomes, program team performance and financial reporting for assigned projects.
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations and requirements.
Financial Management
- Coordinate with Finance to ensure all expenses are properly coded
- Coordinate with Finance on processing invoices
Program Monitoring
- Understand key field activities and operations to inform analysis of partner and program data.
- Support dissemination of program knowledge and data to stakeholders including donors, program partners, board members, global and US staff and the broader international development community.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required; MA/MS, MBA or MSA degree in Economics, International Relations, International Development, Agriculture, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management. Experience managing USAID funded projects/programs is a plus.
- Strong written communication skills, especially technical writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
- Diplomacy, good judgment, and ability to work across different cultures.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, and ability to quickly develop competency with a variety of cloud-based project management tools such as Box and Smartsheet.
- Commitment to the vision and mission of Opportunity International.
- Experience implementing and/or supporting international agriculture and/or finance projects preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Fluent in spoken and written English. Proficiency in Spanish, or French a plus.
