About the Role
AgriCorps partners with 4-H Liberia to implement the School-Based Agricultural Education (SBAE) program —a model that equips teachers and students with agricultural and leadership skills while strengthening linkages between schools, communities, and government systems.
The SBAE Advisor will be contracted by AgriCorps and serve as the in-country technical lead for the Liberia program, working closely with 4-H Liberia’s leadership team to support delivery, learning, and scale-up. Part of the program’s funding flows through AgriCorps-managed grants, while other activities are funded directly to 4-H Liberia. The Advisor helps coordinate across these funding streams to ensure
alignment, compliance, and high-quality implementation.
The goal is to support 4-H Liberia and government partners in integrating SBAE into national education and extension systems so it becomes a fully adopted, financed, and sustained government program.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Support & Capacity Building
- Provide technical assistance to 4-H Liberia in program design, teacher training, and field implementation.
- Support development of simple, effective monitoring systems to guide decision-making.
- Ensure fidelity of SBAE pedagogy, curriculum, and agricultural practices across schools.
- Mentor 4-H Liberia staff and facilitate continuous learning and adaptation as the program scales.
2. Government & Policy Engagement
- Strengthen partnerships with the Ministries of Education and Agriculture to embed SBAE within curricula, extension, and national strategies.
- Coordinate with other ministries (Youth, Gender, Health, Finance) to link SBAE to initiatives such as school feeding and youth employment.
- Cultivate relationships within the Legislature and executive offices to build support for national adoption and financing of SBAE.
3. Fundraising & Resource Mobilization
- Lead fundraising for scaling SBAE in Liberia, especially large proposals or those with research components.
- Provide technical input to proposals led by other teams and prepare investment cases for donors.
- Manage grant funding flowing through AgriCorps for Liberia operations, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.
- Build relationships with donor agencies, foundations, research funders, and private-sector partners.
4. Research & Evidence Coordination
- Collaborate with research partners (e.g., IPA, universities) on new studies and evaluations.
- Align program delivery with research protocols and ensure high-quality implementation.
- Translate findings into practical program and policy recommendations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelors degree in International Development, Agriculture, Education, or related field (Master’s
degree preferred).
- At least 5–7 years of relevant professional experience, including work in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Strong background in program management, capacity-building, and government relations.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, grant management, and donor reporting.
- Familiarity with agricultural education, extension systems, and youth development.
- Ability to design or strengthen monitoring systems and support data-driven learning.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
