Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the National Project Officer, the Young Professional will support the Humanitarian Assistance Unit of IOM ROK in collaboration with relevant units at the Mission as well as Regional Offices and Headquarters, the successful candidate will provide support in implementation of various projects under the Humanitarian Assistance Team portfolio.
IOM, as the implementing agency, will recruit a Young Professional through KOICA’s Young Professional Programme to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure continuity of programme support through an open and competitive selection process. This position is open to Nationals of the Republic of Korea only. The sponsoring entity, KOICA, will be directly responsible for salary payment.
Responsibilities
The Young Professional will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Conduct desk research (both quantitative and qualitative) as required and gather and analyze data and information to support IOM’s engagement with climate change related partners, e.g. the Green Climate Fund (GCF);
Provide technical support in the organization and delivery of training workshops, engagement with partners including research or translation support
Provide administrative and logistical support for the implementation of capacity-building projects, including the organization and delivery of training workshops, forums and events;
Conduct desk research related to ROK’s disaster risk reduction policies and practice;
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
General Requirements
Korean citizenship
between 20 and 36 years of age
Applicants must, at the time of application, a) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or b) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or c) have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in international development, international relations, political or social sciences, migration studies, human rights, or related field
Experience
Experience in desk research; familiarity with data analysis is desirable.
Experience in providing administrative and logistical support for event planning and delivery
Proficiency in office software package (e.g., MS Word, Excel) and data analysis
Experience in conducting research is an asset.
Prior experience in an international environment is preferred.
Skills
Knowledge of humanitarian affairs and climate mobility is an advantage.
Knowledge of international organizations is desirable.
Languages
Professional proficiency in both Korean and English (oral and written) is required.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
