Psychosocial support assistant

Job Description

Chemonics seeks a short-term psychosocial support (PSS) assistant based in Berlin, Germany, for the Syria Injaz project, an ongoing, early-grade education and grants program in Syria. The PSS assistant will support the psychosocial support senior program officer in remotely organizing and delivering training sessions to local partners; follow up with them; and assist in reporting, monitoring, and evaluation. The PSS assistant will also participate in training activities across all Injaz sub-awards. The assignment will take place over 12 months. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver remote trainings on child protection principles, non-violent classroom management, and structured psychosocial support based on the Injaz-developed curriculum, to formal educators and local partners’ staff, including trainers
  • Maintain documentation for all completed training sessions and draft progress reports for review by the PSS senior program officer
  • Assist in preparing M&E documentation by drafting weekly and quarterly reports and responding to the donor’s RFIs
  • Follow up with child protection policy implementation at all child centers run by local partners
  • Conduct regular meetings with local partners’ trainers to follow their progress in delivering training sessions, identify any challenges or further needs to build their capacity, or improve Injaz materials
  • Conduct regular meetings with local partners’ child protection officers to follow on child protection policy implementation at centers, referral systems, and fill records management
  • Remotely attend training sessions conducted by local partners’ trainers
  • Other tasks as assigned by the PSS senior program officer and/or the Injaz chief of party

Qualifications:

  • Must have legal work authorization in Berlin, Germany
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in training and remote training
  • Knowledge of psychosocial support and child protection principles
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and work within a team to meet tight deadlines
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office programs
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Excellent command of Arabic and English
