This internship is designed to be full-time and in-person in New York, but can be adjusted based on the request of the successful candidate.

Org. Setting and Reporting
Internship is in the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications, in the NGO Relations, Advocacy and Special Events Section.
Assigned to the team managing the UN’s Creative Community Outreach Initiative (CCOI) and Messenger of Peace (MoP) Programme.
CCOI: Promotes partnerships and collaborations with the global entertainment industry (film, TV, documentaries, new media, sport, music).
MoP Programme: Coordinates advocacy work of UN Messengers of Peace and policy on celebrity advocacy, including Goodwill Ambassadors, across the UN System.
Four internship positions available: two starting on 5 January 2026, two starting on 2 February 2026.
Internship is unpaid and full-time (35 hours/week) under supervision of a staff member.
Responsibilities
Provide support for projects with external partners from the entertainment or sports industries (e.g., drafting background materials, taking meeting notes).
Monitor and report on social media activities of Messengers of Peace and other influencers; collate metrics on advocacy engagement.
Assist with planning and organization of special events, filming projects, and other in-person activities at UN Headquarters.
Draft, format, edit, and post original content for the team’s two websites.
Assist in drafting communications materials, including concept notes, talking points, presentations, and press releases.
Monitor applications to the Football for the Goals membership daily and process applications.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Meet one of the following:
Enrolled in or completed a graduate program (second university degree or higher).
Enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree).
Field of study must be closely related to the type of internship applied for.
Knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Ability to draft emails, publications, or social media posts is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish).
