Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on specific topics.
  • Prepare briefs and reports on specific topics.
  • Update socio-economic databases.
  • Assist in the implementation of activities such as seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • Daily responsibilities may vary depending on the individual’s background and the internship period.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Basic education required: High School Diploma.
  • Applicants must meet one of the following:
    • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
    • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Field of study must be closely related to the type of internship applied for.
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme.
  • Official proof of eligibility must be provided during the application process.

Languages

  • Working languages of the UN Secretariat: English and French.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Knowledge of English is desirable.
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.

Intern Specific Text

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the host country may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
  • Successful candidates should clarify their visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
