Opportunity:

Abt Associates is recruiting qualified candidates for the Quality Assurance Lead position for the upcoming USAID-funded Egypt Osra opportunity. The Osra Activity will be a five -year cooperative agreement to strengthen high impact practices in voluntary family planning and incorporate innovative approaches to improve family health outcomes for all Egyptian families. The program will work jointly with the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), the National Population Council (NPC), and potentially other Ministries in a multi-sectoral endeavor to support the achievement of the Government of Egypt’s National Population Strategy milestones. The Osra Activity may integrate other health areas such as MCH, immunization, nutrition, and WASH with Family Planning/Reproductive Health interventions to increase impact, as well as engage with the private sector to expand its role in providing quality services.

The Quality Assurance Lead will provide technical leadership and expertise specific to Family Planning methods, provision and use for the project. S/he will help manage program implementation to help Osra meet its technical objectives related to FP quality assurance. The Quality Assurance Lead will be responsible for ensuring that the FP technical assistance provided under the project is in line with international best practices, and is strategic, coherent, and consistent and supports the achievement of project objectives.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Working with the DCOP, develop and adapt technical strategies, approaches, and activities to achieve quality assurance objectives
  • Apply and contextualize global best practices and learning in FP to the Egyptian setting.
  • Oversee and coordinate activities of regionally dispersed staff.
  • Ensure high quality and timely reporting on quality assurance activities
  • Collaborate with other technical leads on a cohesive project approach to improving FP uptake in Egypt.

Preferred skills/requisites:

  • Medical degree required, Master’s degree or higher in international studies, public policy, public health, international development or a related field desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience that demonstrates technical expertise in FP and/or RMNCH care at clinic and hospital levels.
  • Minimum 6 years of demonstrated excellence in a management position including direct supervision of professional and support staff, and quality evaluation of staff performance and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated credibility as a leader on matters of designing, implementing, and strengthening FP health programs with a focus on capacity building.
  • Demonstrated ability to support cross-sectoral programming and build partnerships.
  • Demonstrated experience designing training programs/ providing training to medical and other health professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience working with/in underserved communities.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and Arabic are required.

Bachelor’s Degree + Twelve years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Ten years of relevant experience, or PhD+ Eight years of relevant experience
