The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations, founded in 1948.
Mission includes the design, monitoring, and evaluation of public policies, and provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to governments, along with support for regional and international cooperation.
Internship in the Cepal Review Unit in Santiago, Chile: 4 months, renewable up to 6 months depending on Office needs.
Selected candidates may be chosen on an “as-needed” basis during the posting period.
Under the supervision of the Chief of Cepal Review Unit, the intern is expected to:
Search, collect, and organize information and reference materials on economics and development issues from various sources.
Review and critically analyze academic articles.
Carry out other minor tasks as required by the Division.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Education: HS Diploma required. Applicants must be a student in the final year or have completed:
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program, or equivalent.
Experience: Not required for the UN Internship Programme.
Technical Skills:
Good knowledge of standard software applications (MS Word, MS PowerPoint).
Ability to draft working documents and papers is highly desirable.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.

Laptop Equipment: Interns may need to bring their own laptop as institutional laptops cannot be guaranteed.
Work Email: A work email account may not be provided; interns may use their personal email for communication.
Internet Access: Institutional Wi-Fi requires a work email; interns without one can access the guest Wi-Fi by registering personal information.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the host country may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
