Research Coordinator, Digital Ecosystem
IDG is recruiting for a Research Coordinator to help conduct a Digital Ecosystem Assessment which will inform the development, design, and implementation of future strategies, projects, and activities.
This role is open to Ugandan Nationals.
The primary goal of the project is to support better understanding of Uganda’s Digital Ecosystem and provide recommendations to 1) mainstream digital development into programming and 2) better understand, work with, and support the country’s digital ecosystem to meet critical Development Objectives.
A secondary goal of this assessment is to produce an externally available report for key stakeholders to help them better understand the country’s digital ecosystem and how they advance digital in their work. This task will be carried out through a combination of desk research and interviews focused around three pillars:
Digital Infrastructure and Adoption
Digital Society, Rights, and Governance
Digital Economy
The assessment is approximately a five to six month engagement and includes three phases: 1) Desk Research and Planning, 2) Interviews, and 3) Analysis and Report Writing. The Research Coordinator will work with a team comprising of a Principal Investigator, a Technical Researcher, and a Research Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
The Research Coordinator is responsible for developing research briefs and interview guides for relevant technical areas, and serving as the lead author of at least one pillar findings and recommendations, work closely with the Principal Investigator and the Technical Researcher throughout the assessment period. In addition, the Research Coordinator will:
Desk Research and Planning Phase:
Help conduct desk research
Identify interviewees
Oversee interview scheduling
Interview Phase:
Draft interview guides
Develop content for presentations
Participate in presentations
Lead and take notes for interviews
Analysis and Report Writing Phase:
Support team lead with analysis of debrief and synthesis processes
Serve as lead author for one Pillar findings and recommendations section
Work with team to finalize report design
Requirements
Degree in development, IT, or related discipline
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing assessments, evaluations, or research.
Ability to be flexible across technical areas
Experience conducting in-depth desk research
Experience conducting qualitative research and analysis, including leading individual interviews
Research management skills
Strong synthesis and writing skills
Ugandan national. Fluency in English required.
