Responsibilities
This research faculty member will provide technical support for international development education projects around the world, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Initial responsibilities will include supporting USAID-funded projects in Rwanda and Zambia, including early grades curriculum development, teacher and teacher educator training, collaborative research, and policy development. Candidate will eventually be expected to submit funding proposals and lead projects.
Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Education; Reading and Language Arts Education; Literacy, Language and Culture; Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on literacy education; or another related field.
Knowledge and understanding of the key components of evidence-based literacy pedagogies, related developmental stages/growth trajectories, and related assessment methods is required.
Excellent communication skills, both in-person and via email and electronic platforms.
Willingness to travel internationally to developing countries frequently and for extended periods of time.
Preferred
Elementary teaching experience
Experience designing curriculum and professional development training
International travel experience
Competency in additional languages
Knowledge of international education development and familiarity with donor-funded projects (USAID, UNICEF, etc.), reporting, and processes preferred

The Learning Systems Institute is a multidisciplinary research and development organization dedicated to improving learning, education systems, and human performance. Since its founding in 1969, LSI has attracted more than $700 million in research and development funding. At present, approximately 100 LSI faculty and staff are engaged in more than forty active projects (approximately $50 million in total funding) in the state of Florida as well as in Zambia, Lebanon, Malawi, Uzbekistan, Rwanda, and the Philippines.
