Job Description

Background

SeeD is offering two internship opportunities for early-career professionals and recent university graduates eager to contribute to meaningful work in peacebuilding, governance, and development research. These internships will support SeeD’s projects and efforts in conflictaffected and fragile contexts.

These positions are ideally suited for individuals interested in social, political, or psychological research, especially in relation to conflict dynamics, social cohesion, and civic engagement. Interns will work closely with experienced team members and receive supervision and learning support across all stages of their tasks.

Applicants based in Cyprus, the UK, Kenya, Ukraine, Moldova, Ivory Coast, Iraq and Bosnia are especially encouraged to apply, though candidates from any location are welcome.

Research Internship

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support qualitative research activities (e.g., desk research, key informant interviews, focus groups).
  • Assist in designing and refining research instruments (e.g., surveys, interview guides).
  • Contribute to drafting research summaries, briefs, and literature reviews.
  • Help prepare presentation materials and contribute to stakeholder-facing outputs.
  • Participate in internal learning sessions and team meetings.
  • Contribute to stakeholder mapping, data visualisation and presentation making and preparation.

Preferred Background:

  • Recent bachelor or masters graduate in social sciences, political science, development studies, psychology, or related field.
  • Strong writing skills in English.
  • Interest in peacebuilding, civic engagement, or governance research.
  • Familiarity with qualitative methods and basic research design.
  • Detail-oriented, eager to learn, and able to work independently.

Analytics Internship

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support data cleaning, organization, and basic statistical analysis in collaboration with the Analytics team.
  • Assist with creation of simple data visualisations and charts.
  • Help interpret quantitative findings and support development of analytical reports, factsheets and similar.
  • Contribute to internal data documentation and storage.
  • Participate in team discussions and reviews of analytical outputs.

Preferred Background:

  • Recent bachelor or masters graduate in statistics, data science, economics, political science, or related quantitative field.
  • Basic experience with Excel and any statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, or Python).
  • Ability to understand and summarise data-driven findings.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, accuracy, and motivation to build technical skills.

General Notes for Both Internships:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of additional languages (French, Ukrainian, Somali, Amharic, Arabic, Romanian) is an asset.
  • Internships are remote, but some travel or in-person opportunities may be discussed depending on location.
  • Duration: 4 to 12 months with potential for becoming full-time.
