Job Description

About you

The strongest candidates will bring a portfolio-learning mindset and a passion for improving how organizations make complex decisions. You thrive on learning across heterogenous projects and draw insights that make teams and systems more effective over time. You’re energized by ambiguity and motivated to bring structure to it- able to compare initiatives, even those without clear or direct beneficiaries, and extract meaningful lessons. You are skilled at translating evidence into decision-relevant insights, building simple impact models and cost-effectiveness estimates that make assumptions transparent, trade-offs explicit, and choices actionable. You naturally apply Bayesian thinking - updating your views as new evidence emerges- to help teams navigate uncertainty and make adaptive, informed decisions.

Responsibilities

As a senior associate the day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Technical skills: Support all technical elements of the team’s work, possibly including methodology development, questionnaire design, indicator selection, data collection (internal and with partners), data analysis, and data visualization. Technical work is likely to focus on non-experimental methods. We’re especially interested in someone who has skills or interest in learning Bayesian techniques.
  • Project and client management: Manage project flow between our team and internal and external clients, likely the CLTO, CIO, regional teams, client-facing teams, external clients, funders, and functional teams like operations and finance.
  • Communication: Produce high-quality communication materials describing our approach and results, including technical reports, policy briefs, and presentation materials. For example our methodology document, insights page, or reports.
  • Strategy development and execution: Help continuously refine ILT’s objectives and approach to ensure maximum impact. You will also have the opportunity to identify, pilot, and implement special projects that enhance our organizational learning.
  • Innovation: Continuously innovate on how we can improve our value, including identifying new problems, developing new methods, improving our approach, and piloting new outputs.

  • Research hygiene and data infrastructure: Build and maintain robust data systems, documentation, and reproducible workflows to keep IDinsight’s impact and operations data accurate, accessible, and analyzable. Strengthen data architecture, version control, and transparency to make data easier for staff and teams to use.

Qualifications

  • Strong project management skills, self-disciplined and motivated to produce a consistent high-volume of high quality outputs, with an ability to easily switch between high-level considerations and nuts and bolts of implementation
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving abilities, with an ability to think through complex questions conscientiously and judiciously
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills, including an understanding of econometric and statistical tools. Knowledge of statistical tools (R/Stata).
  • Ability to identify, scope, develop, and manage deployment of high-value no-code AI agents (like Gems/Skills/GPTs/Projects).
  • Motivated by evidence-informed systems improvement and organizational change management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop a deep and nuanced understanding of how data and associated tools can be tailored to decision-making needs within IDinsight.
  • Open-minded self-starter who will thrive while tackling new, unusual and unpredictable challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and inclusively engage with a variety of internal clients.
