Senior Chef
Summary: Plan and prepare onboard menus, train the Galley Team, responsible for hygiene, safety and cleanliness of the Galley areas. This position supports the Food Services Manager by ensuring the Galley Team Leaders have everything they need to complete their daily tasks.

We couldn’t bring hope and healing without healthy and delicious meals. This role handles planning and preparing onboard our regular menu, training the Galley Team, and is responsible for hygiene, safety, and cleanliness of the Galley areas.
Our Galley team serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner for our 400-strong crew, our local Day Crew, our patients and caregivers. Our Galley team can prepare up to 2,000 meals every day, and also cater for special events on board.

Our galley team spends every day supplying the crew, day crew, hospital, HOPE Centre, and outpatient families with the food they need to keep on going! We couldn’t do what we do without healthy and delicious meals on board.
The Senior Chef volunteer position, part of the Food Services department, will be located on the Africa Mercy and Global Mercy, the world’s largest non-governmental hospital ships. The preferred minimum commitment for this role is two years. We recommend all interested applicants to submit an application at least six months in advance of your target service date.
