About the Job

Black Farmer Fund (BFF) is seeking a full-time Senior Impact Investment Manager to lead the underwriting, structuring, and management of our investment portfolio. The Impact Investment Manager will:

  • Independently manage deals from intake through closing.
  • Conduct thorough financial and operational due diligence.
  • Structure and negotiate investment terms.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and provide support for restructuring when needed.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical lending skills—including financial analysis, due diligence, and loan structuring—with a commitment to supporting Black farmers and driving equitable impact in the food and agriculture sectors. This role reports directly to the Investment Director.

  • Negotiate loan terms and coordinate with legal counsel to finalize documentation.
  • Develop financial models and conduct scenario stress-testing.

Portfolio Management & Servicing (25%)

  • Monitor borrower performance through regular reporting, site visits, and relationship management.
  • Identify early warning signals of repayment challenges and design/implement restructuring strategies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate loan servicing records, impact tracking, and covenant monitoring.
  • Collaborate with the Business Support team to align technical assistance with portfolio needs.

Pipeline Development & Ecosystem Engagement (10%)

  • Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities aligned with BFF’s mission.
  • Build and maintain relationships with food system entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and ecosystem partners.
  • Represent BFF’s investment strategy at outreach events, workshops, and panels.

  • Prepare analyses of total portfolio performance and risk profile for internal and external stakeholders.
