Position: Senior Manager – Governance and Stability

About the role
ASI’s Governance and Stability Practice is responsible for supporting the design and delivery of our work focused on strengthening governance and enhancing stability around the world. The practice covers centre of government reform, local government reform, public financial management, anti-corruption and illicit financial flows, and civil society development and education under the rubric of governance and stabilisation, countering violent extremism, countering disinformation, security sector reform, conflict reduction. We place a strong emphasis on gender and social inclusion in all our programming and have a particular focus on the Women, Peace, and Security agenda. Our work takes place in a range of fragile and conflict affected states as well as more and economically advanced countries. We work in places ranging from Pakistan and Myanmar to Iraq, Syria, and Palestine, to Somalia, Ghana, and Mali.
We are currently looking to fill a senior manager position role for the following project and activities:
Key tasks and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Primary role, Senior Project Management:
o Quality assurance of project deliverables
o Support to work planning and strategic direction
o Team management
o Finances and budget management and forecasting
o Supporting operations management including assuring operational compliance with country legal and regulatory requirement
o Managing risks & issues
o Supporting evaluations and reporting
o Event logistics & management
By agreement with Head of Practice, Business development
Technical:
o Coordinating and/or leading small and medium size proposals.
o Coordinating and contributing to large size proposals.
o Researching thematic context in particular countries / regions.
o Brainstorming and drafting methodologies.
o Identifying key partnerships.
o Identifying consultants for key positions and maintaining staffing database.
o Writing proposal documents.
Commercial:
o Researching and benchmarking costs of operation.
o Benchmarking fee rates.
o Negotiating fee rates.
o Developing commercial proposals
Enabling role, Firm Building:
o Marketing: Contributing content, developing events, and generating grey literature that can be used to build ASI’s reputation with external audiences.
o Supporting events to share knowledge
o Knowledge management: ensure all knowledge is shared via agreed team systems and processes
o Personal development: take ownership to grow one’s own capability, experience, and expertise

You will bring some knowledge and expertise in one of more areas of the thematic areas identified above and a proven track record in building effective relationships with stakeholders from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds, and to work effectively in politically sensitive and challenging environments. You will relish working in a team and will be innovative, energetic, positive, and genuinely committed to achieving lasting change in your work.
