Job Description
Chemonics seeks a Senior Manager for the Global Health and Supply Chain Office’s (GHSCO) New Business Team, located in Arlington, VA. The senior manager performs as needed in multiple roles for new business development and increasingly contribute to all levels of corporate strategy, technical practices, and staff development and supervision. The Global Health and Supply Chain new business team will pursue health and supply chain technical assistance opportunities for both the Global Health Division (GHD) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) Division. The team will build on and demonstrate Chemonics’ holistic approach to improving health outcomes, from commodity procurement and delivery, to health sector governance and building capacity of clinical partners, to scaling innovations to maximize impact.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead team in developing effective working relationships with clients, potential partners, counterparts, stakeholders, subcontractors, technical specialists, and donor agencies
- Identify and develop new business leads, clearly identifying Chemonics’ role in current international development assistance programs and trends
- Externally promote Chemonics, representing company history, values, and standards by attending events, networking with clients and counterparts, and displaying a clear understanding of the past and present portfolio
- Serve as lead in conjunction with operations team to properly resource new business teams within and outside of region or profit center
- Manage the Corporate Proposal Tracker, ensuring it is consistently and accurately updated
- Oversee management of new business consultants, including timesheet management and ensuring payments are processed for consultants
- Manage implementation of proposal strategies in collaboration with senior vice president and director of new business development to optimize profitability and win rate
- Act in a variety of proposal leadership roles to ensure that Chemonics’ best practices and quality standards are used during preparation and submission. Serve as mentor and coach to others assigned to new proposal roles
- Apply knowledge of NICRA rates to provide early estimates of proposal profitability, prepare cost proposals independently, and make recommendations in compliance with Chemonics’ standards, and mentor others in such tasks
- Learn and promote strategies for effective teamwork and leadership development and cultivate collaborative working relationships across the company
- Actively engage in technical practice of relevance to areas of interest or focus, sharing information and best practices learned with the company
- Supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned staff. Ensure staff receive regular constructive performance feedback, prompt resolution of problems, and the time and opportunity to grow professionally
- Provide organizational, planning, and management support to outside facilitators and undergo training to serve as in-house facilitator for meetings such as green teams and new business training
- Expand professional and technical knowledge through a variety of internal and external training and resources
- Foster and demonstrate a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required
Qualifications:
· Minimum 4 years of relevant project management and staff supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- Thorough understanding of client requirements and preferred methods of business
- Understanding and fluency in administrative, accounting, and management systems, with a demonstrated ability to mentor staff in these areas
- Experience writing proposal or report sections of at least 10 pages
- Demonstrated leadership on a project management team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
- Experience living or working in developing countries
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
