Social Impact Assessment Specialist

Associates for Global Change (AGC) is accepting CVs of specialists with practical experience conducting Social Impact Assessments for feasibility studies related to infrastructure projects worldwide. Since 1999, AGC has assisted multinationals working in extractive industries and infrastructure projects in Africa with culturally-sensitive analyses of the social impact of proposed or on-going mining and infrastructure projects. Interested specialists should have at least 3 years of experience working in diverse rural and peri-urban settings and familiarity with the following:

  • World Bank & MCC Directives, and IFC’s Performance Standards regarding Environmental and Social Impact Analyses (ESIA)
  • Techniques of public participation and consultation
  • Resettlement action plans, costing compensation packages and approaches to relocation
  • Community and social development programs
  • Stakeholder mapping, outreach and engagement
  • Designing and overseeing baseline and midline surveys, focus groups and public opinion gathering techniques
  • Analysing the social costs, benefits, risks and mitigation strategies of investment decisions.

Previous experience with World Bank, IFC, Regional Development Banks, MCC, extractive industry, energy, water, or other physical infrastructure projects desirable. Ability to work in French, Spanish and English highly desirable.
