Global Communities is seeking a Social Media Specialist to join the US Programs’ team at the headquarters in San Diego, California. The Social Media Specialist will oversee and create content for one or more social media accounts for Global Communities US Programs. This person will create original educational graphics, posts and social media ads based on relevant public health topics identified by Project Directors (PD). Their duties include creating and updating social media posting schedules, replying to comments from subscribers or liking tagged photos and coordinating with other Communications staff. The specialist is responsible for tracking whether social marketing efforts have been successful through use of various online analytical tools.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in meetings with key project staff.
  • Develop visually engaging graphics and social media materials for US Programs, in conjunction with project staff.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with GC Communications team.
  • Create original educational posts/ ads based on most relevant public health topics related to US Programs, with guidance from PD.
  • Work with project staff to ensure content is available in languages reflecting the same communities served by US Programs.
  • Review and report to Project Directors digital analytic data to inform strategy for maximum reach and inclusion in reports.

  • Able to work independently with self-direction and as a team player.
  • Ability to show empathy to clients during times of stress.
  • Fluency in English and another language.
  • Familiarity with public health terms and concepts.
  • Computer experience and demonstrated ability to work in MS Excel.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline or a minimum of four years of related work experience.
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Must have reliable internet connection and quiet place to work .
  • Able to speak, read & write English fluently.
  • Computer experience and demonstrated ability to work in MS Excel.
  • A passion for the mission and values of Global Communities.
  • Able to use Facebook Business Suite.
  • Must have experience with digital and/or visual design.
  • Must have U.S. work authorization.

The salary for this position is 50,002 - 75,003. Salary is based on several factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
