Job Description

MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates) is recruiting for a Sr. Project Manager with Financial Services expertise to join the Eastern, Southern and Central African (ESCA) program regions.

The Sr. Project Manager (SPM) will support MEDA’s work in various projects within the ESCA region, with an emphasis on financial services. MEDA is looking for an SPM with industry specific experience in blended finance, financial services, investment and/or private equity investment funds, including financial services certificates and designations.

Regular travel to these regions is required. The SPM will manage projects, maintain client relationships, deliver internal and external consulting services and develop new business opportunities in coordination with Senior Director. The SPM will contribute to and support the region and the MEDA team according to their area of technical expertise and MEDA values.

  • Region of focus: TBD based on program and project specific needs

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Supervise projects and staff in the various regions ensuring projects achieve contracted performance requirements
  • Provide technical leadership, supporting current projects and new business development in the regions
  • Contribute to new business development generally in the region
  • Cultivate, manage and sustain donor relationships
  • Contribute to the development of annual plans, budgets and strategy
  • Provide and manage consulting and contracts as required

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate level degree in applicable area of expertise is preferred, this may include an MBA, a Masters in Business Administration, International Economic Development, Finance or a related field

Experience: Proven track record of at least 7 years of business experience or industry specific consulting/supporting experience for projects with budgets of $5 million and up

Project Management: Project and professional management experience (5 years), staff management experience, overseas and/or international experience relevant to the region, experience with donors, bi- and multi-lateral government agencies, non-governmental organizations and other development agencies

Additional Technical Expertise: Experience/expertise in blended finance, financial services, investment and/or private equity investment funds, including financial services certificates and designations.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Appreciation and support of MEDA’s faith statement, values and goals
  • Willingness to undertake extensive international travel
  • Private sector and entrepreneurial experience
  • Experience in other areas of technical expertise including climate, gender, vulnerable populations, measurement and evaluation, impact assessment, market solutions
  • Excellent skills in relationship management, including building relationships, networking, presentations, negotiation and interpersonal communication
  • Proficiency in a foreign language is an asset
