Job Description

Chemonics International is seeking an Associate of Strategic Communications. The Associate, Communications and Media works closely with the Communications and Media team, the Impact Lab, executive leadership, business line communications teams, and others throughout the company to support Chemonics’ external communications and media goals. The Associate solves problems, develops and employs appropriate communications strategies, and brings strong writing skills to assigned tasks. The associate understands and promotes department and corporate goals and supports oversight of and contributes to external communications outlets. This role requires on-site work in our Washington, DC office location as part of our hybrid, flexible work structure. Responsibilities:

  • Prepares content for social media outlets including X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram
  • Daily social media monitoring, flagging notable findings
  • Scheduling social media posts
  • Monthly social media measurement
  • Engage with teammates in the Amplify program to onboard new users, identify the Amplifier of the month, maintain a list of active users, and provide technical support
  • Performs administrative tasks such as processing expense reports and invoices, maintaining department inventory, and updating meeting agendas.
  • Liaises with teams across the company to develop and maintain website content, including drafting copy for new website pages, posting procurement announcements, creating new specialist pages, updating existing specialist pages
  • Supports corporate participation in priority events and forums
  • Assists with maintenance of corporate external communications guidance housed on company intranet
  • Mentors newly hired associates and develops other manager-level skills and abilities for career progression
  • Contributes to new business efforts in proposal roles including, but not limited to, writing CVs, Branding and Marking Plans, Personnel, Past Performance Reviews, and Corporate Capabilities
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed to perform the principal duties.

  • 1-2 years of professional experience in communications/management of social media accounts preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required (e.g., communications, marketing, journalism) or at least one year of relevant work experience required
  • Excellent English verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to speak clearly and concisely and write for diverse audiences; strong cross-culture communication and sensitivity skills
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem solving and initiative to learn new skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle routine administrative tasks and operational issues
  • Ability to multitask with attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Ability to draft story-driven, engaging, corporate content about complex subject matter
  • Ability to review and edit technical content written by staff around the world
  • Ability to identify engaging, useful content and propose ways to use this content in a variety of communications outlets
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure with diverse teams and manage production schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to follow standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision, and contribute to projects and initiatives
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications and SharePoint; basic knowledge of HTML, web content management systems, Adobe Photoshop, and email marketing platforms preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity

The Hourly Pay Range for this position is: $21.96 - $27.46.

An employee’s pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.

Overtime exemption status may change due to state regulatory requirements.
