Job Description

Chemonics is seeking a Summer Global Health Intern for the Health Practice within the Global Health Division of the Health and Supply Chain Office (HSC). The Health Practice is a community of experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts in global health discipline, representing Chemonics’ technical expertise around the globe. The Health Practice Management Team facilitates technical learning and excellence by providing a wide range of services, resources, and opportunities for our global workforce to increase the competitiveness of our proposals, improve projects’ technical performance, build staff expertise, and advance technical dialogue within the larger development community. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Under the direction of a supervisor, the intern is integrated into the daily work of the Health Practice Management Team within the Global Health Division of Chemonics’ Health and Supply Chain Office. The Practice intern will perform the tasks detailed below and will learn how the Health Practice shares expertise through strategic engagement with our industry to spur learning, evidence-based approaches to address development challenges, technical achievements, and innovations that help people in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The intern will also participate in professional development activities and practice networks to gain an understanding of the international development field and Chemonics Health technical area.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all internship activities and events scheduled during normal business hours
  • Support the team in conducting and sharing research on existing project work, various potential funders/clients and/or trends in the Global Health sector
  • Support the team with knowledge management, strategic communications, improving staff engagement with technical activities and professional development in Global Health
  • Participate in Practice related conferences, meetings, trainings or other events
  • Performs other duties as needed

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program (rising senior),or graduate (first year of program completed) and recent undergrad graduates, preferably in public health, global health, international development, or a related field
  • Demonstrated interest in international development
  • Ability to work on a team and independently on projects and tasks.
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in French is desirable, but not required
  • Knowledge of global health issues and trends is a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity

The Hourly Pay for this position is: $18.

An employee’s pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.

Overtime exemption status may change due to state regulatory requirements.
