Job Description

Duties
  • Supervises staff members engaged in performing personnel functions and customer service actions.
  • Responsible for initial case intake, the review of security forms, conducting investigative inquiries for the purpose of initiating personnel security background investigations.
  • Estimates and reports on progress in meeting established milestones and deadlines for completion of assignments, projects, and tasks.
  • Serves as an expert in the use of the electronic application (eAPP) database for submission of security clearance investigations.
  • Reviews a weekly report of all branch cases that are overdue to determine if cases are adequately assigned and meeting the investigative standards and deadlines. Makes recommendations to management on cases.
  • Determines the adequacy and completeness of investigations and evaluates the authenticity, veracity, and pertinence of the data presented.
Requirements Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • Time in grade must be met by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.

  • You may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
  • These are Testing Designated Positions (TDP’s) under the Agency’s approved Drug-Free Work Place Program. All applicants selected for this position will be subject to random drug testing once they begin working for the Agency.
Qualifications Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes a) Leading staff members engaged in performing personnel security functions; b) Performing initial case intake to review security forms and conduct investigative inquiries for initiating personnel security background investigations; c) Reporting on personnel security cases to provide a status of outstanding or overdue cases; AND d) Assigning personnel security cases to staff members. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
