Job Title: Team lead

Location: Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Reports to: Program Director, USP

Our programs are focused on building the capacity of regulatory authorities and manufacturers in ensuring patient access to quality-assured essential medicines by providing: 1) technical assistance to manufacturers to increase the supply of quality-assured priority medicines for malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) products; and 2) capacity-building activities to regulatory authorities to fulfill their function in ensuring the supply of quality-assured medical products. 

The USAID Cure Tuberculosis 2 ( Cure TB 2) project led by JSI Research and Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) with USP as a subrecipient. The project aims to reduce the burden of TB in Kyrgyz Republic by reducing the TB incidence and mortality by driving efforts to: .

· Increase TB case finding for all forms of TB.

· Improve treatment outcomes for all forms of TB

· Expand TB prevention services and infection prevention control

· Build resilient and sustainable TB systems to reach the ambitious End TB strategy goal. procurement and supply chain management for essential medicines.

USP is seeking a team lead for the Cure TB 2, based in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.

Scope of Work

· Oversee project implementation for USP’s agreed upon scope and manage the USP local team

· Represent USP in the consortium and collaborate with local stakeholders

· Inform USP HQ and international technical advisors on the country context and guide the technical approach

· Develop workplan and implementation plan for USP to align with the larger Cure TB 2 project goals and objectives in collaboration with JSI and USP headquarter (HQ) team

· Provide input to the USP local staffing and consultant structure, job descriptions, and hiring decisions

· Set a clear direction. Processes, and systems in place to achieve quality and timely program deliverables

· Supervise the local staff and consultants including assigning roles and responsibilities, providing implementation oversight, and monitoring the quality and completeness of the program deliverables

· Ensure effective information flow within the team and across larger JSI and USP teams

· Track and monitor progress against the workplan deliverables and resolve challenges and realign to meet the changing country and program needs

· Represent USP in local and international settings

· Build and maintain excellent relationships with the local counterparts including government officials

· Oversee project implementation and lead the team.

· Contribute toward the development of program documents such as reports, communication briefs, slide decks etc.

· Any other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in public health, management, or any other relevant field
  • 8+ years of experience in public health program management
  • Strong technical background in TB and health system strengthening
  • Understanding of and experience working with key country stakeholders such as the MRA, NTP, etc. 
  • Ability to manage complex projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • Experience in people management

Anticipated Period of Performance and Level of Efforts:

The anticipated period of performance for this consultancy is from November 2024 to May 2027. The consultant is expected to work 40 hours per week.
