Job Description

The Kaizen Company (Kaizen) seeks candidates for a part-time Technical Manager of Knowledge Management and Learning position to be based in Washington, DC supporting the USAID Office of Conflict Management and Mitigation (CMM) Knowledge Management and Learning (KM&L) contract.

The position requires a self-starter with a high level of flexibility, creativity, and commitment to excellence. USAID/CMM is currently located in USAID’s Bureau for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance, leads the Agency’s efforts to identify and address the sources of violence and conflict. CMM also serves as a liaison between USAID and the broader conflict resolution and peacebuilding community. CMM represents a development perspective in the national security, policymaking arena, and coordinates USAID’s efforts with those of other international donors, including private foundations. In USAID’s transformation CMM will become the Center for Conflict and Violence Prevention (CVP) in the Bureau for Conflict Prevention and Stabilization (CPS).

Illustrative responsibilities and qualifications for the position are listed below:

Responsibilities

  • Manage knowledge management processes for an active office including knowledge curation, knowledge retainment, and knowledge sharing practices
  • Support the management of internal and external websites
  • Create standard operating procedures around knowledge management and learning
  • Manage and innovate processes for disseminating knowledge
  • Develop and manage knowledge sharing and learning events
  • Develop knowledge sharing and learning publications

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or higher
  • 6+ years of professional experience in international development, international affairs, political science, or international peacebuilding
  • 2+ years of professional experience in knowledge management and learning, social media tools, and creating visual and graphic content
  • Experience working with evaluations and indicators
  • Familiarity with USAID Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) methodologies
  • High-quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Supervisory experience a plus
  • Ability to balance and prioritize diverse tasks with limited oversight
  • Qualified to achieve and maintain clearances as required for client projects
  • Natural dedication to Kaizen’s Core Values, Vision, and Mission
  • Fluency in one or more foreign languages is a strong plus
  • Interest and experience in conflict and peacebuilding helpful but not required

This is a part-time position with the expectation that the individual will work for 20-30 hours a week. The position is expected to last through April 2021, contingent on approval from USAID. The position will be based out of the Ronald Reagan Building.
