Job Description

The Topographical Surveyor, l, will be responsible for leading and executing topographical surveys, data processing, and the creation of accurate maps and reports for various infrastructure and development projects within the Latin America and Caribbean region.

The Topographical Surveyor, l, will be responsible for leading and executing topographical surveys, data processing, and the creation of accurate maps and reports for various infrastructure and development projects within the Latin America and Caribbean region. This role requires extensive experience in topographical surveying, proficiency in using surveying equipment and software, and proven team leadership skills. The surveyor will ensure the quality and accuracy of all survey data, adhering to industry standards and project requirements. Experience with REGIOLA (or similar regional surveying standards and practices) is essential.


1. Survey Planning and Execution

  • Develop and implement detailed survey plans, including methodology, equipment selection, and resource allocation, in accordance with project requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct topographical surveys using a variety of surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, levels, and drones, ensuring accurate data collection.
  • Manage and coordinate field survey teams, providing guidance, training, and supervision to ensure efficient and effective data collection.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental guidelines during all survey activities.
  • Adapt survey plans and methodologies as needed to address unforeseen challenges or changes in project requirements.


2. Data Processing and Analysis

  • Process and analyze survey data using specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar) to create accurate digital terrain models (DTMs), contour maps, and other survey deliverables.
  • Perform quality control checks on survey data to identify and correct errors, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all survey products.
  • Generate reports summarizing survey findings, including data analysis, interpretations, and recommendations.
  • Integrate survey data with other project data, such as GIS data, CAD drawings, and engineering designs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all survey data, processing steps, and quality control procedures.

3. Team Leadership and Coordination

  • Lead and manage a team of surveyors and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of survey activities.
  • Coordinate with other project stakeholders, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of survey data into project designs and construction plans.
  • Mentor junior surveyors and promote professional development within the team.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to project teams on surveying-related matters.

4. REGIOLA Compliance and Regional Expertise

  • Ensure all survey activities and deliverables comply with REGIOLA (or similar regional surveying standards and practices) and other relevant regulations.
  • Adapt survey methodologies and data processing techniques to meet the specific requirements of projects in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams on REGIOLA compliance and other regional surveying issues.
  • Participate in regional surveying conferences and workshops to stay abreast of the latest developments in the field.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional surveying standards, regulations, and best practices.
