Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Director of Trade Support Services and the direct supervision of the Chief of the Enterprise Management Development Section, the incumbent will:
- Take responsibility in the organization of EMD short- and long term capacity-building programmes; present EMD programmes, materials and tools and initiatives to both external and internal stakeholders; - Assist the Chief’s office in building and utilizing communication and distribution of the said programmes, materials and tools; - Assist EMDS to strengthen its network of institutional and individual members; - Devote special attention to the conception and implementation of initiatives that will permit existing members of the network to continue to upgrade themselves beyond the scope of specific technical assistance projects and which will expand the network membership base further; - Contribute to the development of learning materials covering specific topics of interest to the business community; - Ensure prompt responses to inquiries. Participate in other research, development and dissemination activities of the section.
Qualifications and experience required
Mandatory: U
- niversity degree, preferably at the advanced level, in business administration, economics, or in an international trade related field. - A minimum of 6 years experience in the conception and implementation of training and development projects and/or other technical assistance projects related to international trade. - Holders of a first level university degree can be considered but require a minimum of 8 years experience. - Experience in research and report writing on issues concerning international trade. - Project management skills, computer literacy and familiarity with the Internet. - Proven communication, presentation skills, research, writing, editing and publishing skills. - Team spirit. - Ability to work under pressure, independently, with efficiency, competence and in harmony with people of different national backgrounds.
Desirable:
- Understanding of the business consultancy process and the application of business profiling and diagnostic techniques. - Full familiarity with issues related to the process of internationalisation of small and medium enterprises and potential constraints to improving international competitiveness. - Demonstrable knowledge of different approaches to encouraging learning in enterprises including the integration of e-learning to leverage field activities. - Knowledge of the UN system.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of ITC.
Mandatory: Fluency in oral and written English, and either French or Spanish.
Desirable: Knowledge of other UN languages.
The qualifications, experience and language requirements listed above are considered to be the minimum requisite forsatisfactory performance in the position and candidates should only consider submitting an application if they fully satisfy all these essential requirements.
Indicative Annual Net Remuneration Including Post Adjustment at the P.3 level: US$ 89,827 with dependants and US$ 83,848 without dependants, after deduction of Staff Assessment, plus additional benefits, when applicable, such as rental subsidy, dependency allowance, education grant for children, repatriation grant, six weeks’ annual leave; the Post Adjustment element is subject to change.

Appointments with ITC are service-limited to this organisation. This appointment is under the 100 Staff Rules applicable to regular staff.
