Job Description

For an on-going tender, GITEC Consult / IGIP is looking for experienced Training Experts (f/m) with specialisation in vocational training and regional experience in Africa / Ethiopia.

The Project

The project, funded by KfW, in cooperation with the Ethiopian Ministry of Education (MoE) aims for the development of the domestic education and vocational training sector in Ethiopia.

The Government of Germany has allocated a budget for the “Vocational Education and Agricultural Training Programme, Phase 4” (the “Programme”). The programme builds up on earlier phases (phases 1 – 3) and will support MoE to further consolidate and develop the domestic vocational and agricultural training sector.

Besides financial support for the strengthening of the satellite approach and selected LCIs’ funds will be provided for the enhancement of the agricultural vocational education network and improvement of facilities in selected ATVET institutions. The programme also addresses the “gender gap” in the teaching and student body and finances measures to help increase female participation in the education system with particular focus on rural areas.

Your Main Duties in this Position
  • Ensure sustainability of the programme’s objectives
  • Training of local TVET teachers and instructors in operating and maintaining training facilities and equipment financed under the programme
  • Ensure proper utilization of equipment for schooling purposes for the future
  • Development of training needs, concepts and schedules for Satellites / LCIs / ATVETs
  • Particular training needs exist in the following areas:
    • Automotive
    • Construction
    • Electricity / Electronics
    • ICT
    • Metal Engineering
    • Textile / Garments
    • Leather Products
    • Agro-business / Agro-mechanisation / Agro-processing
    • Biomedical Engineering
    • Chemical Manufacturing
    • Medical Laboratories
    • Hotel & Tourism
Your Expertise / Profile
  • Min. 5 years of professional experience in the respective sector in an industrialised economy
  • Previous experience in vocational training is required
  • Expertise in training in one or more of the above mentioned training areas
  • Previous working or training experience in Sub-Saharan Africa
Time Schedule / Duration of Assignment

The project is scheduled to start by May / June 2017 and will run for approximately 3.5 years.

The duration of your assignment in this role is set for 15 months; the exact assignment times are subject to project needs and upon agreement.
