Translator (English/Spanish), MESCLA

Job Description

Dexis Consulting Group is seeking a Spanish to English translator to provide support to the Monitoring and Evaluation Support for Collaborative Learning and Adapting (MESCLA) activity.

The MESCLA Activity seeks to support achievement of USAID/Honduras’ Country Development Cooperation Strategy’s (CDCS) Development Objectives (DOs), by assisting the Mission in planning, designing, conducting, disseminating, and learning from rigorous monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of its development activities. This includes designing and implementing both quantitative and qualitative evaluations and assessments, as well as providing expert analysis to improve USAID/Honduras’ projects.

Duties and responsibilities

The consultant will support translations of documents in English and Spanish. He / She will:

• Carefully read the document to be translated
• Identify meaning and use translating approaches that emphasize content
• Verify the technical vocabulary (in consultation with the technical team as necessary) to translate the document as clearly as possible
• Proofread translated documents before submission
• Maintain formatting of original document as much as possible

Qualifications

• Relevant academic degree
• Demonstrated writing ability in the target language (Spanish and English)
• Excellent writing abilities in the translated language (Spanish and English)
• At least 5 years of experience translating documents from and into Spanish and English
• Solid understanding of development projects and associated vocabularies in both Spanish and English
• Ability to provide translation samples (original document and translated document) in both Spanish and English
