Job Description

Scope and Authority

Scope of the Role
The Treasury Analyst, reporting to the Treasury Operations Manager, will have a varied remit including:

  • Providing reporting-related advice and assistance to IRW group subsidiaries, SBUs, and multiple departments including IRW UK, International Programmes Division, Network Resource Development, Governance, and the broader Finance team.
  • Assisting with day-to-day management of treasury operations, including oversight of internal and third-party payments, FX confirmation matching, and accurate position determination.

Responsibility for Resources

  • Reporting on £250m FX trades, bank transfers, processing of investments, and compliance queries.
  • Regularly reporting to management on progress of compliance issues, including handling sensitive documents.
  • Monitoring KPIs and providing feedback to relevant stakeholders to improve service delivery and exchange rates.
  • Collaborating with banks and external treasury suppliers to ensure value for money and minimize exposure.

Treasury Reporting

  • Develop and maintain the Treasury Pack using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Establish Treasury KPIs and monitoring techniques.
  • Maintain IRW currency mapping and report on the stability of overseas banks holding operational accounts.
  • Compile quarterly economic forecasts, including FX rate and inflation projections.
  • Perform daily cash management activities and weekly liquidity checks, supporting investment of reserve funds.
  • Develop tools and reports to track investment returns and improve cash flow forecasting and monitoring.

Financial Service Provider Operational Management

  • Maximize impact of funds by minimizing foreign currency exposure for field office operations.
  • Manage daily administrative functions of banking and fund approval systems.

Foreign Exchange Risk Management

  • Plan FX flow forecasts to manage cash, currency requirements, and liquidity levels to mitigate risk.
  • Monitor cash flow reporting to ensure minimal liquidity risk and smooth organizational operations.
  • Map incoming and outgoing currency, identifying exposures and opportunities.
  • Support the international finance team in understanding FX exposures on grants/contracts and developing mitigation methods.
  • Monitor and report FX KPIs and movements, ensuring timely settlements and hedging processes.
  • Execute trade deals for international transfers while minimizing currency exposure for operational accounts.

Investment Management

  • Lead and manage investment reporting activities, ensuring compliance with Islamic Finance requirements, UK reporting standards, and financial ledgers.
  • Monitor investment portfolio performance to meet internal and external guidelines.
  • Provide investment information to support decision-making and improve understanding of Islamic Investment.

Systems and Technology

  • Support ERP system innovations to improve Treasury data intelligence.
  • Identify automation opportunities and recommend relevant reporting technologies.

Banking Mandates, Platforms, and Country Office Banking Support

  • Collaborate on developing a new banking portal to open/close accounts internationally and maintain signatory compliance.
  • Develop a Treasury Helpdesk to ensure timely responses to queries.
  • Review and document Treasury Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain Treasury Extranet materials for stakeholder self-service.

Organizational Support

  • Promote and foster a culture consistent with Islamic principles and IRW values.
  • Support colleagues in applying Islamic values to organizational objectives.
  • Maintain professional development and undertake reasonable duties as required by management.
  • Provide treasury advice to other teams and maintain written procedures.
  • Support continuous process improvement in collaboration with the Business Process Improvement Manager.
  • Assist in preparation of notes for statutory accounts and respond to auditor queries.

Candidate Profile

Knowledge and Experience

  • Qualified or studying towards a Treasury or Chartered Accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACT, AMCT) or equivalent, with a banking/treasury specialization preferred.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, handle confidential information, and deliver reliable service.
  • Practical treasury reporting experience, ideally in multicurrency or international contexts.
  • Experience with foreign exchange risk mitigation and payment processing.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast-changing environment.
  • Experience recommending and implementing process improvements.

Skills

  • Strong technical/analytical skills, including Excel-based modeling.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI and Unit 4 ERP (desirable).
  • Systematic, analytical, and innovative problem-solving approach.
  • Excellent time management and numeracy skills.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the Finance department’s strategic role.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or in cross-functional teams.
