Practical Action is looking for a Trustee with particular skills and experience to join its Board.
Practical Action is an ambitious organisation committed to transforming the way technology is used to improve the lives of people living in or vulnerable to poverty. Working throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America, we improve the lives of nearly three million people every year through improved access to energy, sustainable agriculture, water, sanitation and waste management and through disaster risk reduction. With income of over £30m and working in 13 countries we are a medium sized charitable organisation. This is an exciting time for Practical Action globally as we have just agreed our strategic intent to 2030 and created operational plans to deliver on our ambition.
Practical Action is looking for trustees who have an understanding and empathy with Practical Action’s mission, values and work as well as having the experience and ability to provide valuable oversight and make strategic judgments together with your fellow Trustees on a range of complex issues affecting our global organisation. The Board provides challenge and support to the Strategic Leadership Team composed of the CEO, Country Directors and UK based functional Directors.
International Development Trustee
A trustee with high level international development experience in the not-for-profit, social enterprise, governmental or donor community in Asia, Africa or Latin America. The trustee will have a good understanding of the role INGOs provide in bringing about change for the lives of people living in poverty. Practical Action are seeking someone with experience in the global south, therefore applications from people living in the global south will be welcomed. If based outside of the UK you will be able to attend in person at least one Board meeting and our Strategic away-day and participate by video or teleconference in the other three Board meetings we hold each year.
Trustees are not remunerated but travel and out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
