Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The daily responsibilities of the intern will depend on their background, the office’s needs, and the internship period. Interns will primarily focus on supporting the 2025 UN-SPIDER RSO GeoAI Compendium, which involves collecting and compiling responses from Regional Support Offices (RSOs), performing data analysis, and developing charts, graphs, and other multimedia content.

Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting the team in gathering, sorting, and analyzing data or survey responses from RSOs.

• Preparing visual materials such as infographics, charts, graphs, and short multimedia content to illustrate findings.

• Formatting and proofreading documents such as reports, information notes, or brochures.

• Supporting communication with stakeholders via email or other online platforms.

• Performing other tasks as necessary, including ad hoc research and content development.

• Provide assistance in formatting the documents such as information note, agenda, background board, brochure, badges etc.

• Perform other tasks as necessary.

Qualifications/special skills

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
    • be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
    • be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
  • Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Click or tap here to enter text.and MS Teams.
