    John Green is known for writing best-selling young adult fiction novels. But recently, he's been lending his star power to another cause: tuberculosis.

    The fight against tuberculosis has found a celebrity friend in John Green, the young adult novelist star who describes himself as a “tuberculosis hater” on his profile on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

    “Death from tuberculosis is caused by human choice. It's caused by human-built systems. And so that's terrifying and horrifying and deeply upsetting. It means we're not doing a good job of assigning equal value to every human life,” he said at a panel discussion during this year’s United Nations General Assembly.

    But “if we are the cause of tuberculosis, we may also be the cure to tuberculosis,” he added.
