U.S. billionaire investor Warren Buffett has donated USD1.93 billion worth of shares to five foundations, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Gates Foundation, where Buffett is a trustee, received the biggest share of the pie, with USD1.7 billion, BBC reports. The remainder went to the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, named after the billionaire’s late wife, and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, named after his son. The two other recipients of Buffett’s donation were the Sherwood Foundation and the NoVo Foundation, according to Agence France-Presse.
Buffett, who owns investment company Berkshire Hathaway, promised in 2006 to donate 99 percent of his wealth to charities.
