Abed Ayoub, the chief executive officer of Islamic Relief USA, was tapped to sit on the Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid of the U.S. Agency for International Development, a press release from the non-governmental organization announced. The committee was created in 1946 to link the U.S. government with NGOs involved in international relief, rehabilitation and development work. Ayoub will serve a two-year term from April 2010 to March 2012.
“I think this is a great opportunity to have the Muslim voice heard and to show the Islamic perspective on issues that affect the world’s needy,” Ayoub noted. “We hope to be able to make a contribution to this prestigious committee.”
