The Asian Development Bank is providing USD20 million to help 14 provinces in Laos and Vietnam develop their tourism sectors. The project seeks to generate employment as well as help protect natural resources, ethnic groups and minorities. “The contribution of tourism to the GMS (Greater Mekong Subregion) economy has increased significantly in the past decade, creating new opportunities for economic growth and poverty reduction,” said ADB Senior Economist Alfredo Perdiguero.
