ADB, World Bank back various projects in India

India gathered pledges of support from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, for its campaign to encourage growth and modernize roads, bridges and infrastructure in its Northeast region. “At present, there are three ADB-assisted and two World Bank-assisted projects in the Northeastern region,” said the Parliamentary Standing Committee. The projects include the ADB-sponsored North Eastern State Roads Project, the North Eastern Urban Development Project, and the NE States Trade Investment Creation Initiative Project, as well as the World Bank-backed North Eastern Region Livelihood Projects and Study on Water, Natural Resources and the Environment initiative.
