The African Development Bank’s board of governors is set to review the bank’s 2013-2022 strategy at the May 28 to June 1 annual meetings.
The weeklong event, themed “Africa and the Emerging Global Landscape: Challenges and Opportunities,” will be held in Arusha, Tanzania. Expected attendees include African politicians, business leaders, academics, civil society representatives and media practitioners.
Apart from the board’s meetings and several civil society forums, some of the key development events that will take place at the annual meet include:
A panel discussion on the recurring drought and food insecurity in Africa.
A panel discussion on the private sector’s role in Africa’s regional integration.
A high-level seminar on good public financial governance in Africa.
A panel discussion on remittances, diaspora and microfinance.
A high-level debate on the continent’s economic growth.
A panel discussion on Africa’s energy opportunities and challenges.
A panel discussion on the role of African women in business.
Presentation of the African Capacity Building Foundation’s 2012 Africa Capacity Indicators report.
Also present at the event are Heidi Hautala, Finland’s minister for international development, and James Wolfensohn, former World Bank president.
