The African Development Bank is lending USD25 million to help construct an integrated methane gas extraction and power production facility in Rwanda.
The project aims to extract gas through a floating barge located in Lake Kivu, approximately 12.5 kilometers offshore from Karongi town.
The funding will support the first phase of the project, which includes the construction of gas extraction and processing facilities, and a gas-fired power plant, The New Times reports.
