A large number of Afghans are still extremely vulnerable to health challenges related to conflict, inadequate health services and natural disasters. Eric Laroche, the assistant director-general for health action in crises of the World Health Organization, said that health services need to be expanded in various parts of Afghanistan, and that more nurses, doctors, midwives and health facilities are needed throughout the country.
